Jason and Valerie wanted a nice, leisurely vacation, visiting Jason’s brother in Virginia, but Mother Nature intervened, delivering a hellacious snowstorm to the region. With their transportation plans thwarted, the travelers find themselves on a deserted road in the middle of the night, a blizzard raging all around them, and a suspicious stranger has joined their midst. To Jason, the newcomer seems a little off. He might just be a run-of-the-mill drunk, but Jason senses something else—a streak of sadism seems to emanate from him. Little does Jason know, the stranger is the least of their worries. There’s something else out here in the woods, a creature that purrs as it feasts on human flesh, an abomination lurking in the snow, hidden in the darkness. But even if Jason and Valerie manage to survive, there’s one more surprise waiting for them, with a revelation that will test their very humanity.
The Snow and The Darkness edition by Matthew Warren Wilson Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
When I read the description of this story, I was expecting a pretty run-of-the-mill story about people lost in the woods and running into dangerous people. What I ended up reading was a creepy and weird story with enough detail that I could picture every scene uncomfortably vividly. The author has a ton of talent and one heck of an imagination.I don't want to give spoilers, but there are instances of sexual assault and other disturbing content, so if that is something that bothers you, I would recommend skipping this story.
Otherwise, if you have a strong stomach, you'll probably find this unique story to your liking.

The Snow and The Darkness edition by Matthew Warren Wilson Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This short horror story was well written and may well have you cheering for the "monsters" the protagonist befriended through their ordeal. I will be purchasing other stories from Mr. Wilson.
Wow... I read this book in almost one sitting.
Jason and his girlfriend Valerie, and his brother and his brothers girlfriend.... are all caught in a horrible snow storm. They pick up a stranger.... can't really let him die out there, can they? Well.... maybe they should have.
This was really a creepy page turner... and the way it ended really leaves the door open for a part two. That would be awesome )
I really enjoyed this book. I was enthralled with it from the first day I picked it up all the way to the end. Your emotions will run wild! I highly recommend this book to those who love horror books. This book will have you on your toes!
Horrifically violent.....could not put this down......had to know what would happen next....begging for the good guys to be rescued, but unfortunately not in this story. This will definitely not b the last time I'll be reading from this author.
Move over Stephen King! If you like horror, this is the book for you. The story was short, but it did not have pages of useless filler. The author grabs your attention right away. There are no boring parts and useless characters. Dean Koontz and Stephen King should read this story and write more like Matthew Warren Wilson (the way they used to write). I look forward to reading more from this author.
This was one crazy ride. A family straight out of crazytown, murdering people to feed their pet, homemade monsters. The fact that this story was incredibly bloody, and somewhat terrifying, yet still left me feeling sorry for the monsters, says something. What it says? I couldn't tell 'ya! I'm do know that I'll probably spend a few days worrying about cuddles. Poor little guy! Yep, I'd recommend this story and author.
This is a great read. From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The author did a great job of weaving the story together in a way that left you thoroughly entertained. It is not a book for the squeamish though. This is a seriously creepy book. I recommend.
